COVID-19 Update- TLC will look a little different this year as we have decided to implement a hybrid program. Student's classes will gather at St Johns every other week. Parents will be placed in small groups and decide when, where and how their group would like to meet. And unfortunately we will need to suspend TLC Mass and our TLC Family meal for a little while.

Dates to Know:

Open House- Pick up your materials after Mass on either Sunday, August 16 or 23 following 9 am Mass

Zoom Parent Meetings- Wednesday, September 2:

6 pm for Pre-K through 7th Grade parents

7 pm for Parents of Confirmation students, as well as their son or daughter preparing for Confirmation

Note- If you have a student in Confirmation as well as a younger child, you can skip the 6 pm meeting and only need attend the meeting at 7 pm.

Total Lifelong Catechesis (TLC) is a whole new way of understanding what our role and mission is as disciples of Jesus Christ!

We should be spending our entire lives growing in an intimate relationship with God. The reality of Christian growth is that children learn and live what they experience at home. If Jesus is not visibly present at home and in their parents, they may not/cannot learn from Catholic Schools or Parish Religious Education programs what they need to experience the life of God.

TLC Mass - One Sunday a month is designated as our TLC Mass, a special opportunity for our youth to be involved in our Sunday liturgy.  Students will be given opportunities to serve in liturgical roles usually reserved for our adult parishioners, such as being an usher or a reader at Mass.

TLC Family - One Wednesday a month we gather at 6:00 pm for a meal as a parish family.  There is a craft or family project and then at 6:30 pm we break into learning groups. Children and teens learn in a traditional classroom setting while their parents and other adult parishioners hear a talk and have opportunities for small group discussion. As lifelong learners we hope that they, too, may continue to learn and grow in their faith.

TLC Kids - A second Wednesday a month the Pre-K through Confirmation students have class again.  All classes meet from 6 pm until 7:30 pm this year.  The Primary (Pre-K, Kind. & 1st) will meet in the Fr Guillemette room, both Elementary (grades 2-4) and Middle School (grades 5-7) will meet in the Social Hall and  Confirmation class (grades 8 & 9) will take place in the St Therese Chapel.

What about the Sacraments?

Most children receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist in second grade.  This year First Reconciliation will be Wednesday, March 24 and First Holy Eucharist on Sunday, April 18.

The third graders whose First Communion was postponed due to COVID-19 will receive Jesus for the first time on Sunday, October 11 at 11 am Mass.

Confirmation at St. John the Baptist is a two-year program, usually starting in eighth grade with teens being Confirmed in their second year.  This year's second year Confirmation students will be Confirmed on Sunday, May 16 at the St Paul Cathedral 2 pm Mass

The Youth Small Group, whose Confirmation was postponed due to COVID-19 will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, October 4 at 11 am Mass.  This Sacrament will take place at St John the Baptist with Father Yanta.
