SPOTLIGHT ON SMALL GROUPS!

St. John the Baptist is embracing the Parish Evangelization Cells System (PECS), a strategic initiative introduced by the Archdiocese of Minneapolis and St. Paul to revitalize parish life. This System encourages the formation of dynamic faith-sharing Small Groups that aim to deepen personal relationships with Jesus Christ, strengthen understanding of the Catholic faith, inspire active participation within the community and learn to recognize and share experiences relating to faith.

Adult Faith Formation: The Bible Timeline: The Story of Salvation

This the second half of the bible study which began in January 2026.  The Bible Timeline Story of Salvation series will teach us how to read and understand the entire Bible and will introduce us to the wonderful narrative of the Scripture in a way that will transform life.   Meetings resume the second, third and fourth Mondays of each month resuming on September 14^th   through December 21^st, 2026, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in the parish social hall.  Facilitated by Sheila Long (763) 428-4539.

Learning to be Better Disciples of Jesus

Join us as we strive to deepen our Catholic faith and to learn to be better disciples of Jesus Christ. We will explore Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John, various gospel readings/teaching, learn how to recognize how the Holy Spirit is working in our lives, along with other interesting faith-filled topics. Meetings are on the 2^nd and 4^th Tuesday of each month beginning on September 22nd from 6:00-7:30/8:00 pm. Facilitated by Russ (612) 723-3155 and Teri Ray (612) 741-5603 in their home in Dayton.

How to Reach Heaven

If you are interested in the goal of attaining heaven, we have the group for you!  This dynamic group explores topics such as praying without ceasing, roadblocks to heaven, God’s grace, virtues and humility.  Come join us as we learn, grow, and encourage one another on the journey toward heaven!  Meetings resume on Monday, September 21^st.  All meetings are bi-weekly on Mondays at 6:00 pm at the Church.  Facilitated by Jim Penick (612) 221-8513.

The Letter of St. James (using the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible by Dr. Scott Hahn)

This interesting study will use biblical text, the Church’s own guidelines with commentary and explanation to provide historical, cultural, geographical and theological information in an easy to understand format resulting in a deeper understanding of God’s Holy Word.  Bring a bible, watch the session video, with time for sharing and prayer. 12-14 sessions. Meetings are every other Monday beginning on September 28^th from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. Facilitated by Sharon Williams (763) 244-9523 in her home in Rogers.

Men’s Group

This group is an opportunity to deepen the understanding of the importance of men in the lives of their family, the Church, and the community.  Topics to be explored in this group include Lexio Divina/365 (daily devotional and prayers designed to help you experience God’s presence in your life), scripture and reflection via The Word Among Us, and other interesting topics the group wishes to learn more about.  Meetings will be on the 1^st and 3^rd Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the church social hall (schedule permitting).  Facilitated by Russ Ray (612) 723-3155.
