We are excited to announce that we have a new priest assigned to St. John the Baptist parish. Fr. Yanta will be starting here July 1, 2018 as pastor. However, he is on sabbatical this summer, so he will be starting here September 1, 2018. Fr. Robert Mitui has agreed to stay until September 1. Thank you to Fr. Robert for his years of service at St. John's, and lets welcome Fr. Yanta when he arrives. Below is Father Yanta's introductory letter to our parish.

Hello, I am Fr. Timothy John Yanta, I am excited that God has called me to be your new pastor.   I am officially assigned to start as your pastor on July 1st, 2018.  However, I will be on sabbatical until September 1st.   I am happy that Fr. Robert Mutui has agreed to stay on until I return from my sabbatical.  My whole sabbatical is set up to help me go deeper into the gift and dignity of my life and priesthood.   I have received such tremendous healing and transformation from the Holy Spirit that every day I am being incorporated more and more into the living image of Jesus Christ.  It has been such a tremendous and powerful gift, and I look forward to sharing this gift with you.

A little about myself; I was born in 1960.  I grew up in Eagan and graduated from Burnsville High School in 1978.  I received my Pharmacy Degree in 1984.  I moved to California for five years, returned to Minnesota and practiced pharmacy for another 10 years; the last couple owning my own business.  I entered the seminary in 1999 and was ordained a priest in 2005, at the age of 45.  I have plenty of life experience,  many of which I can honestly say was not always on the right track, but this is where I found God….in the power of His healing and reconciliation, His Love and Mercy which is beyond limits.

After ordination, I was assigned in Stillwater at St. Marys and St. Michaels for one year and a couple months, and then was assigned at St. John the Baptist in Jordan.  I have spent the last 12 year at St. John’s in Jordan, again a very transforming and grace filled time.  You will benefit greatly from this, as well as me.

I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters; my mom is still alive at 87 and doing well, and 23 nieces and nephews.  I do very well with families and kids.  The kids at St. John’s School were the highlight of my day.  I look forward to meeting your families.  I really enjoy the outdoors, (one of the many reasons why I am here), and I am an avid fisherman.  Most importantly, I am a disciple and follower of Jesus Christ.  I know Him at a very deep personal level, and I cannot wait to share this gift with you.
